What is fling dating and why do people engage in such type of
relationship?

It is a phase where the persons involved are more than friends,
but not quite lovers.  It is like saying there is you and me
but there is no us.  There are already the manifestations of
the gestures and activities of what normal lovers do.  You are
not yet official lovers, but your gestures do the talking for
you. But the only difference is that there is no commitment
involved. There are reasons why people still engage in this
type of relationship. It might be because they can not commit,
because they are either committed to someone else, or that they
are not yet ready to commit. The convenience is there. No one
has the right to be jealous nor has the right to manipulate
your partner’s life.  Since there are no strings attached, ther
e is no need for you to meddle your partner’s business, and no
need to be concerned for your partner’s affair. Again, that is
because there is no confirmation that both of you are exclusive-
ly dating.

But what if you become too much attached? What if you have
invested all your emotions and your partner has not? What if
you remain faithful to partner, you no longer entertain other
potential spouses, only to find out that your partner is in a
fling relationship with somebody else? Don’t you think it would
be unfair on your end? What if you will reach the point of
falling deeply in love with him or her? You can not even tell
if that person feels the same way. It is so hard to be
presumptuous at the same time it is so hard to initiate the
conversation with this person when it comes this ‘issue’.
Sometimes you do not know where to place yourself in the
relationship, especially if problems arise . Worst of all, it
can result to huge emotional hurt. In the end, you will feel
miserable. Sometimes reality really bites. You just have to
learn and deal with it after loosing the person you never
really had.

One must be aware of his or her boundaries. You have to
remember that it is only a fling date and there are still
issues that are not yet resolved. Nonetheless, it would be good
for you to know that most fling dates eventually end without
leading into a deeper relationship. Most fling daters are just
doing it for fun, for the love of dating, to feel the sparks
and butterflies in the stomach while not yet engaged in a
serious relationship.

Fling dating can be an rewarding for those who are not really
into a serious relationship and would just want to socialize
and make new friends. Bear in mind thought, there possibilities
can go both ways and you do not necessarily make any real
friendships out of it. But the main thing is to at least have
a good time and make sure you and your date have an enjoyable
time together. Bottom line is whatever makes you happy, then go
for it.  You just have to be prepared for the consequences of
your actions.  Being in this type of relationship barely ends
up happily ever after.
